Diamonds may be most girls' best friend, but when I got engaged to my fiance, I knew I wanted something different, and it absolutely had to be handmade.

I began my search for a designer on the Etsy Metal website, where I found Elizabeth Scott, a metal artist from New York. She has two designs that I adore: a ring with a bezel-set stone, and another ring with a beautiful finish that looks like reflections on water. I decided to ask her to make a combination of the two.

The gorgeous ring that Elizabeth Scott designed for me is exactly what I wanted. It's white gold with a sapphire and has the beautiful surface texture of her Shoreline ring. You can see a picture of me wearing it on Flickr. It is a treasure and it has made my engagement even more special.
